Fujifilm launches Dternity products

FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A. has launched Dternity, a new deep storage and archiving solution for organizations seeking to preserve and protect their critical data. Combining cost-effective data tape with seamless onsite and online content protection, Dternity‘s holistic approach to archiving is easy to use, reliable and scalable for future data growth.

“Dternity gives customers a complete deep storage and archiving solution that offers unparalleled access, superior protection and easy retrieval for even the most data-heavy organizations,” said Peter Faulhaber, president, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. “Customers can now easily leverage the economics of tape to empower their archive without sacrificing accessibility to their files and projects.”

In a few weeks the LA Kings will be with Fujifilm at NAB and will be presenting during the show. The LA Kings production team is archiving 32-35 TBs of new data per season. As with most media organizations, video is vital to the competitive and business aspects of the LA Kings and they utilize a file-based workflow. They needed an IT infrastructure that could cost-effectively scale, while requiring minimal management resources. Dternity was the ideal solution – delivering a scalable archiving solution that was truly open source and non-proprietary, plus its ease of management allows the LA Kings production team (not IT trained or schooled) to easily configure and manage their long term data storage.

Dternity combines innovative tape media, onsite network storage appliances, and online vaulting to streamline and simplify the data archive process:

  • Dternity Archive Media

Based on Fujifilm’s NANOCUBIC technology that incorporates Barium Ferrite (BaFe) particles to offer superior performance and longer archival life compared to conventional metal particle (MP) tape.  Dternity Archive Media is used to enable seamless movement of content between the Dternity NAS and the Dternity Media Cloud.

  • Dternity NAS

On-site network attached storage (NAS) appliance built to provide online data access, low-cost scalability and data protection for unstructured, fixed content. Using linear tape file system (LTFS) tape technology, Dternity NAS delivers the performance of disk with the economics of tape in one simple and massively scalable solution.

  • Dternity Media Cloud

Complete online storage solution for the preservation and protection of digital data archives. Features include multiple connection methods, fully customizable SLAs, regulatory-compliant security, mobile support, auto-migration, and archive verification.

Dternity is available now, with advanced portal access coming in late 2014. Customers can learn more about Fujifilm Dternity at NAB 2014 in Las Vegas, beginning April 7.
