Hutchison Global Communications and Oracle announced a business collaboration that will result in HGC becoming a world-class cloud service provider to serve Hong Kong's enterprise and mid-market commercial customers.
Based on the collaboration with Oracle in Hong Kong, HGC will provide a wide range of enterprise-grade cloud services that will equip companies with unparallelled access to best-in-class infrastructure, platform and business applications that are flexible, secure and cost effective.
HGC operates one of the fastest, high-bandwidth, optical-fiber networks in Hong Kong and holds more than 10 years of experience in managing world-class data centres. These capabilities combined with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud engineered systems will provide customers with a high-speed network and high-performance computing for running mission-critical business applications in a virtual private cloud environment - all in a way that helps ensure customers have the security and control they need.
HGC will offer cloud-based business continuity and disaster recovery services, along with real time data backup and application hosting using Oracle private and public cloud solutions. Provision of industryspecific business applications will follow.
HTHKH Chief Executive Officer Peter Wong said: "We are delighted to announce this business collaboration with an IT player the stature of Oracle. HGC owns one of Hong Kong's most extensive fibre-to-the-building networks, which already combines with our data centre capabilities to provide world-class connectivity, colocation and facilities management offerings. This important relationship with Oracle will now put HGC's combination of sophisticated capabilities to work to provide access to cloud-based services that will help our enterprise customers achieve business agility, cost efficiencies and a sharper competitive edge."
Steve Au Yeung, Executive Vice President, Oracle Asia Pacific said: "Our collaboration with HGC will help deliver high-speed infrastructure and high performance mission-critical computing, enabling companies to safely put their business applications in the cloud. Oracle is excited to team up with HGC, as it uses Oracle hardware and software to run a highly-advanced optical-fibre network and world-class data centre facilities to deliver cloud services in the Hong Kong market."
