SiCortex, the first company to engineer a Linux cluster from the silicon up, announced that it has entered into an agreement with MEGWARE, a leading European high performance computing systems integrator, to sell SiCortex's family of ultra compact, high performance Linux systems to the European market. MEGWARE will distribute SiCortex's products in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic.
Visual Numerics, celebrating 36 years of producing advanced numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced the general availability of PV-WAVE version 9.0, the next-generation of the company's industry-leading visual data analysis software, with new analysis features, expanded usability and performance, and broader platform support. With New Policy-Based Automation, Latest Version of Parallel File System Coordinates Tiering of Information for Business or Scientific Use: IBM today announced plans to begin shipping a new version of its General Parallel File System (GPFS) software that acts like a search engine to identify and migrate files between different storage pools and feed high-speed business intelligence and scientific computers. Featuring new policy-based automation capabilities, GPFS is a mainstay of technical computing that is increasingly finding its way into the data center and enhancing financial analytics, retail operations and other commercial applications.
New computational experts join steering committee: NYSGrid, a consortium of institutions collaborating to create a blueprint for New York’s 21^st century cyberinfrastructure, and NYSERNet, provider of statewide networking and communications, have approved a Memorandum of Understanding that creates a framework to better support the research and education communities in New York State. NYSGrid becomes an initiative of NYSERNet, which will provide a legal and administrative home to the grassroots collaboration.
