THIS YEARS STORIES

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has selected six industry projects for the advancement of energy technologies using high performance computing (HPC). Called the “hpc4energy incubator,” this pilot program aims to innovate and accelerate the development of energy technology and boost U.S. economic competitiveness in the global marketplace by teaming industry with the supercomputing resources at national laboratories. The companies selected are: GE Energy Consulting; Robert Bosch LLC; Potter Drilling Inc.; ISO New England; United Technologies Research Center; and GE Global Research. These companies will collaborate with LLNL scientists and use LLNL's HPC to find solutions to urgent energy-related problems and learn how to employ HPC as a powerful tool for innovation. “By bringing together industry’s entrepreneurial know-how and the national…
Telchemy announced SQmediator Symphony. SQmediator enables proactive management of multi-vendor unified communications networks, collecting real time QoE (Quality of Experience) metrics from IP phones and media gateways, and from Telchemy's wide range of embedded active test and passive monitoring agents. The SQmediator Symphony suite of products ranges from the high performance SQmediator Service Provider Edition, with multi-service and multi-customer support that scales to meet the needs of tier one service providers, to the Enterprise Edition, which meets the needs of large multi-location businesses and Government, and the Business Editions, targeted at smaller single location organizations. SQmediator provides the key features needed for managing the quality of Enterprise, Hosted PBX, IP Centrex, mobile and other critical services. SQmediator correlates and reports…
EXFO announced the launch of the portable version of its iPro Intelligent Network Analysis Probe, which provides telecom, finance, security and IT professionals with a reliable, high-performance capture and data processing unit for 10/100 Mbit/s, 1 Gbit/s or 10 Gbit/s Ethernet networks. With next-generation mobile network architectures such as LTE, field-testing teams must capture 100 to 1000 times more data than with legacy technologies. The widely deployed rack-mounted iPro probe has the power to capture all that detailed data from the live network, from all the interfaces required. However, when troubleshooting network issues, the needed detail may not be accessible due to lack of probe coverage in a remote analysis or 24/7/365 monitoring system. In such cases it is necessary…
Network Hardware Resale (NHR), the world's leading provider of pre-owned and new networking equipment, announced it is the first global stocking reseller of Menara Networks' IP over DWDM 10G Optics. Network Hardware Resale will extend its network management and services expertise to include all of Menara Network products; specifically, Menara's Full C-Band Tunable XFP and XENPAK 10Gb/s Transceivers with integrated Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Optical Transport Network (OTN), a first of its kind, patented technology. The high performance transceiver enables a network signal to travel up to 1,200 kilometers in an amplified DWDM network and is tunable across the full C-Band. With fully integrated FEC & OTN, Menara Networks XFPs and XENPAKs eliminate the need for stand-alone transport network…
QLogic announced that its 8200 Series 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) converged network adapters (CNAs) and 3200 Series 10GbE network adapters have been tested and certified as fully interoperable with Dell Force10 S-Series S4810 ultra low-latency 10/40 GbE Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches. Deployed together, QLogic 10GbE network adapters, CNAs and Dell Force10 S-Series switches provide a powerful solution that supports LAN traffic and Data Center Bridging (DCB) to enable a lossless Ethernet fabric for iSCSI storage and Network File System (NFS) traffic, simplifying network management and decreasing the amount of hardware and associated power and cooling requirements for today's data centers. QLogic 10GbE network adapters and Dell Force10 S-Series switches provide a cohesive ecosystem that is fully compatible and interoperable with a broad…
