Infragistics launches new tools for WPF, Silverlight

Empowers developers to create business intelligence applications with Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Microsoft Silverlight

Infragistics today released two Data Visualization UI toolsets, NetAdvantage for WPF Data Visualization and NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization. The Data Visualization UI component suites, sold separately, enable developers to easily incorporate  meaningful, actionable data into their business intelligence applications.

"Our comprehensive collection of data visualization-focused UI controls uses the strong set of capabilities in WPF and Silverlight to bring business intelligence data to life in a way that will inform and inspire business decision makers," said Dean Guida, President and CEO of Infragistics. "This powerful, unique UI solution is for developers who want to take complex, detailed information and communicate it clearly and effectively, in a way that people can understand, by using pivot grids, charts, gauges, timelines and maps."

This first release of NetAdvantage for WPF Data Visualization delivers parity in features and controls with NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization, which debuted last year. The common code base delivers meaningful benefits to developers, including:  faster time to market with  controls for both platforms; little to no learning curve for developers moving between the WPF and Silverlight toolsets; and the need for less code if an application uses controls from both the NetAdvantage Data Visualization toolsets and NetAdvantage for .NET (sold separately).

In both suites, Infragistics delivers the highly anticipated Pivot Grid UI control, a "market-first," that enables developers to leverage the full power of online analytical processing (OLAP) in business intelligence applications. The Pivot Grid for WPF Data Visualization and the Pivot Grid for Silverlight Data Visualization make it possible for developers to present multi-dimensional data  that end users can slice and dice to easily extract the meaning from the numbers.  In other words, the functionality in the Pivot Grid control empowers developers to help end users "help themselves" do more with their data while preventing them from inadvertently causing errors in the dataset.

Other key features include:

Data Chart--a high performance data chart optimized for high speed financial charting.  The chart supports large datasets with millions of data points and real time updates.  In addition, the data chart enables key statistical and technical indicators such as exponential fit and moving average trend lines.

Barcode--renders the most commonly used barcode symbologies worldwide in standard formats that support everything from shipping labels to medical records.

Tree map--enables developers to visually depict complex data values proportionately (much like a pie chart) while simultaneously showing multiple levels of detail without requiring users to drill-down.
