Energy Efficient Servers: Intel's ACE in the Hole

Featured
To further cut costs associated with cooling the datacenter, Intel today revealed findings from a multi-company study funded by the California Energy Commission. The result is ACE Technology – an intelligent cooling management approach that, for the first time, enables datacenter managers to use existing technology in servers to more precisely control the cooling infrastructure. This innovation to the platform is expected to yield significant efficiencies in data center energy consumption. Even the EPA recognizes the value of the ACE concept and now requires their Energy Star servers to have the temperature and communication components needed for this approach.
