ProCurve Networking by HP doubles industry growth rate

ProCurve Networking by HP experienced year-over-year port growth for the second calendar quarter of 2007 more than double the industry growth rate, according to a recent report by market research firm Dell’Oro Group.
According to the analyst firm’s data, ProCurve, the world’s second largest enterprise LAN networking vendor, grew worldwide port shipments by 46 percent in the second calendar quarter of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006. The year-over-year industry growth rate for this period was 21 percent. In comparing ProCurve’s port growth in North America in total switched Layer 2 through Layer 7, shipments grew at 57 percent year over year in a market that grew by 14 percent. In the same comparison, ProCurve’s year-over-year growth in the European, Middle East and Africa market grew at 44 percent in a market that grew by 28 percent. In addition, Dell’Oro Group reports that ProCurve’s Power over Ethernet (PoE) worldwide shipments grew 249 percent year over year compared to market growth of 60 percent. This data elevates ProCurve to the No. 2 industry position in PoE with 10 percent market share. The Dell’Oro Group report also positions ProCurve as the No. 2 vendor in Layer 2 and Layer 3 total Gigabit and 10 Gigabit ports.
