Brian Voss, LSU chief information officer, has been elected to serve on the newly formed Internet2 Architecture and Operations Advisory Council, or AOAC. Voss was elected by the university and affiliate members of Internet2 in this first-ever national election.
The leadership of Internet2, the foremost advanced networking consortium in the United States, recently decided to replace the existing Internet2 Advisory Council structure with four new councils that are defined by operational function. The AOAC is responsible for advising the Internet2 board of directors and management on matters relating to the architecture, operations and policies of the Internet2 Network, including regional and international connectivity. Additionally, the AOAC interacts directly with other network advisory committees on operational and technical matters, as well as issues related to network security, the development of future infrastructure and services, and network financial matters. Led by the research and education community since 1996, Internet2 promotes the missions of its members by providing both leading-edge network capabilities and unique partnership opportunities that together facilitate the development, deployment and use of revolutionary Internet technologies. Internet2 brings the U.S. research and academic community together with technology leaders from industry, government and the international community to undertake collaborative efforts that have a fundamental impact on tomorrow’s Internet.
