The requirements of this position are to provide senior system administration of leading-edge HPC systems and supporting equipment in a Linux based environment. The goal of the environment is to procure and operating leading edge technologies and balance the risk associated with operating these systems against providing consistent, reliable access to the users. The environment is dynamic, and we have a goal to identify and implement changes that result in continuous improvement. The candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a team to support this complex environment and direct junior system administrators.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to; Day-to-day planning for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the HPC and supporting systems, as well as desktop systems to include the management of; * system and security patch upgrades, * optimization, * backups, * building, testing, and installing new applications and system tools, * Ensuring systems meet DoD Security policies. * Coordinate with on-site government team to integrate these systems into the local environment (security, networking, helpdesk). * Implement DoD IT security policies and document system configurations and operating procedures. It will be necessary to coordinate support for remote systems including clusters, networking equipment, and workstations. Skills Requirements:
The candidate will have demonstrated excellent problem solving skills to meet the needs of a dynamic environment. This position requires 8 years experience of administering large Linux environments including reliance on automation to ease administration, use of best practices, standard tools and techniques to managing reliable and efficient systems. Demonstrated experience with federal IT security policies (specifically, FISMA, DITSCAP, DIACAP). The candidate must have experience building and patching the Linux kernel. Some on-call, after hours, support is required. Must be able to pass all certification tests required to manage DoD assets.
