TotalView Technologies' Chris Gottbrath to Present at PADTAD
Writer
Presentation Will Focus on Debugging Parallel Programs Containing Thousands of Processes and Threads: Chris Gottbrath, product manager at TotalView Technologies, the world’s leading provider of scalable debugging and analysis software solutions for the multi-core age. Gottbrath oversees the TotalView and MemoryScape product lines at TotalView Technologies, and over the last six years, his work has been focused on making it easier for programmers, scientists and engineers to identify and solve even the most complex bugs. The Parallel and Distributed Systems: Testing and Debugging (PADTAD) event will be held in conjunction with the International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis (ISSTA) and is a full-day workshop focusing on techniques and systems that aid in the debugging and testing of multi-threaded, parallel and distributed applications systems. The 2007 workshop will focus on contributions in the field of testing and debugging.
Gottbrath will be presenting the session “Organizing Processes and Threads for Debugging,” which will provide an overview of debugging parallel programs containing thousands of processes and threads across hundreds or thousands of nodes. The productivity-enhancing approach presented will focus on how to organize processes and threads in order to debug a program by using groups. The capabilities of the TotalView Debugger will be discussed, along with the implications of executing processes, threads and groups asynchronously under debugger control. The 2007 PADTAD event will be held at the SOAS Brunei Gallery on Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, in London, England. The PADTAD workshop will be held on July 9, 2007. Chris Gottbrath’s presentation will be part of the Debugging MPD program, taking place from 10:20 – 11:00 am.
