Mellanox’s InfiniHost III InfiniBand Adapters Deliver on Critical OEM and End-User Requirements for Industry-Wide Cross-Vendor Interoperability: Mellanox Technologies, a leading supplier of semiconductor-based, server and storage interconnect products, today announced that its InfiniHost III family of market-leading 10 and 20Gb/s InfiniBand adapters have passed all interoperability test requirements and have achieved the prestigious OpenFabrics and University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) Logo.

The Logo program was developed by the OpenFabrics Interoperability Work Group (IWG) in collaboration with UNH-IOL. As a member of OpenFabrics IWG, Mellanox played a key role in the development of the Logo program. The UNH-IOL conducted interoperability Logo testing at a recent event at their labs where all major InfiniBand solutions providers, including Mellanox, and OpenFabrics community members participated. The rigorous testing involved use of a pre-release version of the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) version 1.2 with InfiniHost III adapters to verify interoperability with InfiniBand switch and storage systems from leading OEMs and to verify interoperability with InfiniBand adapters from other device manufacturers. Switch systems tested were based on Mellanox InfiniScale III switch silicon. It is expected that major Linux distribution suppliers will soon incorporate OFED 1.2 into their packages, with Novell taking the lead by supporting OFED 1.2 in its SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time offering. “OFED 1.2 enhances Novell’s ability to meet end-user needs for extreme transaction processing where determinism in transaction execution time is a key criteria for competitiveness and profitability,” said Justin Steinman, director of marketing for Linux and Open Platform Solutions at Novell. “Ensuring interoperability using OFED 1.2 with the UNH-IOL Logo will simplify end-user adoption of Mellanox InfiniBand-based solutions.”
