CSIRO Australia Selects Mellanox End-to-End FDR InfiniBand Interconnect Solutions for New SuperCompute Infrastructure
Mellanox FDR InfiniBand Accelerates the New High Density Intel “Sandy Bridge” and NVIDIA GPU based Cluster
Mellanox Technologies has announced that the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency, has selected Mellanox’s end-to-end FDR InfiniBand solution for their new accelerated cluster, including SwitchX SX6025 switches, ConnectX-3 adapters, Unified Fabric Manager (UFM) and cables. CSIRO chose Mellanox’s robust, high-speed interconnect solution due to its scalability, low power consumption, and high-efficiency data handling that utilizes the latest GPUDirect and CORE-Direct acceleration technologies.
“With industry server upgrades such as the new Intel architecture, it was apparent that we needed to upgrade our interconnect solution for better performance, scalability and return on investment,” said Brian Davis, ASC Cluster Services Manager at CSIRO. “Mellanox FDR InfiniBand, GPUDirect and CORE-Direct acceleration technologies provided the solution we needed. This technology helps to ensure our users will have a high performance level for their research and development.”

The new CSIRO HPC Cluster was awarded to XENON Systems, the local Australian Mellanox partner who specializes in the deployment of High Performance Computing solutions to leading Australian and New Zealand research organizations.
