National Society for Professional Engineers Honors LSI Logic
SAN ANTONIO -- At a ceremony on July 13 at the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Annual Convention and Exposition in San Antonio, Texas, LSI Logic Storage Systems, a leader in delivering technology that enables high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, will be presented with the NSPE's 2003 New Product Award in the large company (200 to 9,999 employees) category. "New and improved products stimulate the life and growth of our country," said Richard Buchanan, chairman, NSPE-PEI New Products Award Committee. "LSI Logic Storage Systems' entry embodied all the qualities the NSPE values when evaluating nominees for the New Products Award, including exceptional engineering research, design and overall impact on the national economy." LSI Logic Storage Systems is being honored for its fourth generation E4600 enterprise data storage system, which was designed and manufactured in the company's Wichita, Kansas facility. The Kansas Society of Professional Engineers nominated LSI Logic Storage Systems for the national award, which is judged on three criteria: sales and economic impact; innovative use of engineering principles; and improved function. "It is extremely gratifying to receive this national award, which acknowledges the company's engineering expertise and economic influence," said Ron Engelbrecht, LSI Logic Storage Systems' vice president and general manager of Wichita operations. Engelbrecht will be in San Antonio to accept the award with Bret Weber, director of architecture, who has been the recipient of LSI Logic Storage Systems' Inventor of the Year Award for the past two years. The NSPE Award follows several other accolades recently bestowed upon LSI Logic Storage Systems' Wichita operation, which employs more than 600 people in engineering, marketing and technical support capacities. In June 2003, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius honored LSI Logic Storage Systems with the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers/Governor's New Product Award 2002. In November 2002, the Kansas Award for Excellence Foundation honored LSI Logic Storage Systems with the Kansas Excellence Award and two Best in Category Awards for Strategic Planning and Human Resource Focus. "LSI Logic Storage Systems prides itself on its role as an industry-leading technology innovator. Receiving the NSPE New Product Award gives prestigious public acknowledgement to the exceptional engineering and design work we produce," said Bret Weber, director of architecture, LSI Logic Storage Systems.
