Momentum Builds for June ClusterWorld

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- ClusterWorld Conference & Expo, the world's premier event on clustered solutions in commercial, research and academic computing, today announced that 11 additional companies have signed up as new sponsors, including Topspin Communications, a Network World magazine "Top-10 Start-Ups to Watch," and Ixia, winner of the "Best of Interop" award at the recent Networld+Interop tradeshow. In addition, BP executive Keith Gray was added to the speaker lineup and will discuss building the world's largest Intel Itanium 2-based Linux cluster. Gray, addressing the conference at the San Jose Convention Center on Tuesday, June 24, is manager of BP's high performance computing center. Based in Houston, Texas, BP's advanced seismic research center includes a new high-performance computing (HPC) cluster of 259 HP rx5670 systems with more than 1,000 Itanium 2 processors, providing a total of 4 teraflops and 8,000 GB of memory all running Linux. BP uses the HPC cluster to deliver clearer images of the earth's subsurface structures and the hydrocarbons they contain in a fraction of the time and cost of legacy systems. "BP is one of the more compelling recent examples of performance and cost breakthroughs provided by new techniques in clustering technology," said Adam Goodman, CEO of QuarterPower Media, publisher of Linux Magazine and producer of ClusterWorld Conference & Expo. "BP and our other cutting-edge industry speakers from market leaders such as Celera, DaimlerChrysler, HP, IBM and Shell are attracting a great turnout by exhibitors, sponsors and attendees registering for the show." In addition to Topspin Communications and Ixia, new sponsors signing up recently for ClusterWorld Conference & Expo include ASA Computers, Avocent, California Digital, DataDirect Networks, Dolphin Interconnect Solutions, NER Data Products, Penguin Computing, Polywell Computers, Voltaire and Western Scientific.
