(NYSE:MNS) , the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) simulation software, services and systems, today announced that Medina, Minnesota-based Polaris Industries (NYSE:PII) has standardized on MSC.ADAMS software tools for the design and development of recreational vehicles. Polaris Industries Inc. designs, engineers and manufactures all terrain vehicles (ATVs), snowmobiles, motorcycles and personal watercraft (PWC) and had revenues of more than $1.5 billion in 2002. "There are thousands of manufacturers around the world who are looking to start using, or increase the use of, VPD technology to help them develop better products in less time and for less cost," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. Polaris currently uses MSC.ADAMS to design suspension and steering systems for Polaris's ATV line in order to predict general vehicle dynamics and loads for durability analysis. In 2003, Polaris plans to phase in use of MSC.ADAMS into the design process for snowmobiles, motorcycles and ultimately into their personal watercraft line.
