NAG and Waterloo Maple Inc. Announce Next Phase In Partnership

Chicago, IL – The world's leading provider of mathematical and statistical algorithms, the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG), announce the next phase in their technology partnership with Waterloo Maple Inc, the leading provider of comprehensive mathematical exploration and application software for research, education, and industry. Building on an already strong and productive partnership, the two industry leaders will collaborate to integrate respective numerical algorithms. Upon completion, users will be able to solve a significantly greater range of mathematical problems at state of the art speeds. In 1997 NAG and Waterloo Maple began a partnership designed to bring together the best symbolic software with the best numeric software to create a series of world-leading products. The first product release to deliver tight integration between NAG and Maple technology was Maple 6 in 2000. This collaboration had a major focus on fundamental matrix computation, one of the most demanding application areas for speed and efficiency. The next phase will expand coverage into other important areas such as specialized matrix computation such as sparse matrices and equation solving. Dr Tom Lee, Vice President of Marketing and Executive Product Director of Waterloo Maple, states, “Our goal is to offer the most complete system for doing any type of computation that involves mathematics. Our partnership with NAG ensures that users receive the highest quality and the most trusted algorithms available. Collectively, our two organizations represent a formidable brain pool with the singular focus of creating ways to do mathematics better and faster.” Dr. Brian Ford, Managing Director of NAG adds, “Our partnership continues to deliver the most innovative and useful technology to the market. Through Waterloo Maple’s far-reaching user base, an ever-growing number of users will enjoy the immense benefits embodied in the NAG libraries.” Waterloo Maple states that users can expect to see tangible results of new initiatives within this calendar year.
