C and C++ debugging are supported -- Etnus announced today that its TotalView debugger can now be launched from within the Eclipse IDE. After downloading and installing a plugin, Eclipse users can debug their C and C++ programs using TotalView instead of the Eclipse debugger. “Our customers like Eclipse,” comments Scott Tate, Vice President of Marketing for Etnus, “but the gdb-based built-in debugger can’t handle multi-threaded and multi-process programs. Now that developers can launch TotalView from within Eclipse, that void is filled.” After programmers write their code, they can press a button to launch TotalView to find problems. The TotalView debugger, running it its own window, contains all the features found in TotalView launched from the command line – such as advanced MPI and multithreading support, as well as an interactive memory debugger. TotalView users can download the TotalView Eclipse plugin by going to its Web site. If you are not a TotalView user, you should first obtain a fully functional evaluation version from the Etnus website at its Web site.
