Pervasive Software, a global value leader in data infrastructure software, today announced BP U.S. Fuels Operating Unit, a division of energy giant British Petroleum, has selected Pervasive's software as the integration layer between its customer profitability analysis tool and its SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Pervasive bridges critical data gaps, retrieving hard-to-reach customer and product data from SAP and other sources. BP chose Pervasive's integration technology to improve accuracy and automate the data flow between applications for optimal pricing and analytics. BP U.S. Fuels automated the updates to its analysis tool with regular batch loads and is adding real-time updates for even more timely and accessible information. "Our analysis tool is only as effective as the data it contains," said Peter Darling, manager of Business Intelligence at BP U.S. Fuels. "It requires the latest transaction and industry data from SAP. Anytime we can identify industry trends and quickly react to changes in the competitive environment, it's a win-win for us and our customers." Instead of custom code and manual effort to populate data tables within its analysis tool, BP implemented Pervasive's integration software to automate data collection and reconciliation processes and enforce consistency to ensure data is virtually error-free. In fact, since implementing Pervasive's integration tool, BP has reduced costs associated with errors by 30 percent. Additionally, the increased automation of processes has saved BP thousands of dollars per year. "Our analysis tool should be a window into SAP," said Darling. "In addition to identifying critical data within SAP, we wanted to reduce the amount of time and resources required to manage disparate data from multiple systems." The Pervasive integration solution provides a comprehensive offering that includes software, pre-defined business processes, installation and configuration services. It enables customers like BP to rapidly implement customer data integration (CDI) initiatives with high return on investment. The Pervasive solution includes everything needed to update key data elements between systems to keep them synchronized. "One of the challenges with CDI initiatives is accessing and reconciling multiple data sources and production systems," said Chip Harmon, general manager, Integration Products at Pervasive Software. "Our integration tool is the key that unlocks valuable historical data from SAP and other production systems for applications such as pricing analysis tools, CRM systems and data warehouses."
