Borland Appoints Charles Hixson as Regional Vice President of the Americas

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA -- Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq NM:BORL) today announced the appointment of Charles Hixson as Borland's regional vice president of the Americas. Hixson will be responsible for leading and managing Borland's sales force in the Americas, expanding Borland's market share in the region, and promoting greater awareness of Borland's development and deployment technology solutions among enterprise and development customers alike. Hixson was formerly a vice president and general manager at BEA Systems, responsible for BEA's Central Region. Prior to joining BEA, Hixson was with IBM for 14 years, most recently as the business unit executive for the Western United States. While at IBM, Hixson was responsible for an annual revenue objective of $1 billion and managed the operations group and marketing and sales teams for multiple product divisions. Previously, he was the regional vice president of sales at Platinum Technology. "Charles is a seasoned sales executive with extensive experience in the software industry," said Doug Barre, Borland's chief operating officer. "With experience at both BEA and IBM, he has a proven track record of leading and managing a sales force, growing revenue, and enhancing customer relationships. He shares our passion for the solutions that we bring to our customers and our strong belief in the overall potential of Borland." Through the appointment of Hixson, Borland continues its efforts to strengthen its regional sales management. Last month, Borland announced the appointment of Julian Quinn, also a former BEA executive, as regional vice president of Asia Pacific. "Borland builds and delivers best-in-class technology solutions that allow customers to increase productivity and deliver higher performance projects faster and at a lower total cost of ownership," said Hixson. "I look forward to guiding the Borland team in the Americas as the company leverages its established leadership in application development technologies and continues its momentum as an emerging leader in the application deployment space."
