Exegy’s Text Search Solution Turns Heads at SC05

Exegy, Inc. demonstrated new high throughput data processing technology at the SGI booth during the 2005 Super Computing Conference in Seattle, WA. SGI introduced high performance computing professionals in the public and private sectors to a first hand glimpse of Exegy’s patented technology solution. Exegy demonstrated an encrypted search through non indexed text data for several search terms using approximate matching. Exegy’s SmartSearch demo showed conference attendees the speed difference between standard software searching technology and Exegy’s accelerated search product. In a search for six terms, two of which used approximate matching, over an encrypted data set, Exegy demonstrated a 3000x speed improvement over standard software. Depending on the search criteria, Exegy’s SmartSearch solution can achieve data processing rates up to tens of thousands of times faster than a software only approach. Visitors to the SGI booth saw first hand how Exegy’s SmartSearch solution fully exploits reconfigurable hardware by delivering applications that run up to 1000s of times faster than traditional applications,” said Ron Renwick, SGI’s Product Manager for Configurable Computing.
