Quantum's Super DLTtape Technology Builds Market Momentum

MILPITAS, CA -- Quantum Corporation's (NYSE:DSS) DLTtape(TM) Group today announced that three of the world's industry leading computer systems manufacturers are now shipping storage backup products using Quantum's Super DLTtape(TM) technology, the next generation of Quantum's DLTtape technology. To date, Quantum has shipped more than 60 million DLTtape media cartridges and 1.6 million DLTtape drives, making DLTtape products the most widely used half-inch tape storage system. Dell is the latest computer systems manufacturer to ship Super DLTtape products. The Dell PowerVault(TM) 110T SDLT Tape Drive leverages the first of Quantum's Super DLTtape systems. Other systems OEMs shipping Super DLTtape products include Compaq and IBM. Tandberg Data is a second source supplier of Super DLTtape technology. In addition, library manufacturers ADIC, ATL, Overland Data, and StorageTek are also shipping tape libraries with Super DLTtape drives. Bruce Kornfeld, director of Dell PowerVault product marketing said, "Super DLTtape drives provide the reliability, capacity and exceptional performance that our customers require in today's data-intensive world. In addition, Super DLTtape technology provides powerful investment protection and the competitive advantage of delivering backward-read compatibility to previous generations of DLTtape products, with our new generation PowerVault line." "Super DLTtape products provide customers with powerful and flexible investment protection to manage their exploding needs for data back up and archiving," said Andy Grolnick, vice president, marketing, Quantum DLTtape Group. "Super DLTtape technology extends Quantum's tradition for excellence by providing the dependability that Dell's enterprise customers value." "Super DLTtape products provide Dell customers more capacity and performance to meet their ever-growing data storage needs," said Robert Amatruda, Research Manager, IDC. "Backward-read compatibility with previous generations of DLT tape drives gives Dell customers investment protection for their existing DLT media." For more information visit www.quantum.com
