Structural Research Releases COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 International

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Structural Research & Analysis Corp. (SRAC), developer of the popular COSMOS/(TM) suite of mainstream design analysis programs, today announced the international release of COSMOS/DesignSTAR(TM) version 3.0. COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 introduces major enhancements in the areas of shell and contact stress analysis, processing speed, large model performance, ease-of-use, and accuracy. The International version is available in English, French, German, Japanese and Chinese. In addition to the basic structural analysis capabilities of stress, strain, displacement, frequency, buckling and assembly analysis with gap/contact, COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 provides intermediate and advanced bundles for high-end users. Intermediate and advanced bundles contain nonlinear, both steady-state and transient thermal analyses, dynamic response, and fatigue. COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 also contains new, fully embedded add-on options for specialized analysis: COSMOS/Flow for computational fluid dynamics, and COSMOS/EMS for electromagnetic simulation. Some of the major enhancements in COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 include: Enhanced CAD Associativity COSMOS/DesignSTAR, which has always been able to analyze models from most popular CAD programs, now offers full associativity with Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge, and SolidWorks. The latest version of COSMOS/DesignSTAR is also compatible with Solid Edge V10. Nonlinear Capabilities In previous versions, COSMOS/DesignSTAR only supported linear stress analysis. Version 3.0 sees the introduction of easy-to-use, nonlinear analysis with 12 different types of material models (behavior). COSMOS/DesignSTAR nonlinear analysis now offers a large deformation option. Enhanced Contact Analysis In the past, contact stress analysis for assemblies was typically considered difficult and time consuming. With automated assembly analysis capabilities within COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0, engineers can now analyze multiple part assemblies with gaps, contact and friction quickly and easily. Key features include: -- Selective Gap and Contact - allows users to pick faces and selectively apply bonded, node-to-node gap, or surface contacts. -- Enhanced Contact Analysis - With the new Component Contact Wizard, COSMOS/DesignSTAR automatically defines contact options for its interface with all other components in the assembly. -- Surface-to-Surface Contact - allows users to define contacts on faces with physical gaps between them, and also supports line and point contacts. Shell Analysis COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 introduces shell elements for analysis of sheet metal and other thin-walled parts. The latest version of COSMOS/DesignSTAR supports the following shell analysis options: Shell modeling of selected faces of solid models, and Shell modeling of thin walled surfaces. New Faster Solvers Powered by the fastest solvers in the industry, COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 exploits advanced sparse matrix technology and re-ordering techniques to save time and computer resources. This enables engineers to analyze multiple design iterations and large, complex problems in a shorter period of time. Reaction Forces When visualizing results of static studies, COSMOS/DesignSTAR 3.0 now displays the reaction forces on the selected entities such as vertices, edges and faces, as well as for the entire model. Fluid Flow Analysis COSMOS/Flow is fully integrated with COSMOS/DesignSTAR so engineers can now define COSMOS/Flow fluid flow studies within COSMOS/DesignSTAR. Study properties, identifying components as solid or fluid, defining extended fluid component properties, meshing, applying loads and boundary conditions, and result visualization can also be done. Electromagnetic Simulation COSMOS/EMS is a 3D-field simulator for low frequency electromagnetic/electromechanical applications. COSMOS/EMS supports the electrostatic and electric Conduction, magnetostatic, and AC magnetic modules. COSMOS/EMS is also fully integrated with COSMOS/DesignSTAR. International Localization The international version supports English, Chinese, French, German, and Japanese. Further information is available at www.cosmosm.com or www.cosmosdesignstar.com
