Security First Acquires DRC Computer

Security First Corp., a digital security company whose disruptive technology is revolutionizing the approach to handling information, announced today the acquisition of DRC Computer Corporation (DRC), the inventors of socketed acceleration coprocessors.

For the last two years, the two companies have worked closely to bring secure acceleration to the enterprise and cloud-class computing complexes, initially delivering a perimeter security appliance with ultra-high performance at a low cost. Security First’s patented SecureParser technology, programmed into the DRC Accelium line of socketed coprocessors, achieves unprecedented levels of performance –- providing customers the ability to significantly reduce infrastructure costs, increase performance, and protect their information beyond that of mere encryption.

“With the critical and immediate need to secure the world’s cyberspace, this acquisition strengthens Security First’s market position and enables us to deliver high-performance data security and availability solutions like nothing available in today’s marketplace,” said Mark O’Hare, President and CEO of Security First. “With its unique technology, DRC is well-positioned to continue its market push and to expand its acceleration capabilities. The synergy between our technologies and approach to market has created a mutually beneficial merger and breakthrough disruptive information assurance solutions.”

“The integration with Security First will strengthen DRC’s market position and enable us to continue to aggressively pursue new applications that require acceleration,” said Larry Laurich, DRC CEO. “DRC’s working relationship with Security First has been stellar, and this merger will be seamless to our customers. We remain committed to our existing partnerships and to further developing them.”

Under terms of the acquisition, DRC will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Security First. In addition to increasing its technology integration with SFC, DRC will continue to address other acceleration market needs in applications outside of security. The acquisition was effective as of June 5, 2009.
