MSC.Software today announced that leading premium automotive manufacturer, BMW Group has selected MD Nastran as their standard environment for linear simulation. The BMW Group will use MD Nastran as a standard for stiffness and vibration analysis for the optimization of the NVH properties and quality of their vehicles. By standardizing on MD Nastran, the BMW Group sees the potential to reduce the number of simulation technologies used in their enterprise. This translates into higher simulation throughput with lower cost of ownership. The BMW Group is extremely pleased with the performance that MD Nastran has shown in benchmark testing. "There is a tremendous industry need to address true multidiscipline problems with reliable performance predictions that reduce the need for physical prototypes and provide more accurate and complete results," said Glenn Wienkoop, president and chief operating officer, MSC.Software Corporation. "Simulation information can be used as a tool to help companies ensure that their products are first to market and right to market." "BMW Group's decision to standardize on MD Nastran is a huge endorsement of MSC's efforts to raise engineering to the enterprise level," said William J. Weyand, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, MSC.Software Corporation. "MD Nastran allows customers to transition from single point simulation tools to an integrated enterprise solution. This allows businesses to focus on the quality and content of simulation analysis and results versus managing disparate simulation systems and data."
