JIVA Grid Computing System now provides embedded support for JMSL-enabled applications. -- Brain Murmurs, Inc, a Seattle-based software research and development company, announced that the JIVA Grid Computing System now provides support for applications based on the JMSL libraries from Visual Numerics. "This move will allow current users of the JMSL libraries to parallelize their existing applications through the use of JIVA. It will also provide a distinct advantage for users that would like to move to JIVA but require the use of a numerical library like JMSL." said Daniel Pasco, Chief Engineer and Executive Vice President of Brain Murmurs. The JIVA client can be installed as a screen saver or background process on Windows, OS X, Linux and UNIX operating systems. When the computer is idle, the client runs solver code provided by the JIVA server to perform naturally parallel jobs such as 3D rendering or protein folding. JIVA was used by Giant Campus during the summer of 2005 and has been running for over a year on a 50-machine network at Cardiologists of Lubbock. The JMSL Libraries are Visual Numerics’ Java version of their IMSL Libraries. The IMSL Numerical Libraries have been the cornerstone of high-performance and deep computing as well as predictive analytics applications in science, technical and business environments for well over three decades. These embeddable mathematical and statistical algorithms, written in Java, are used in a broad range of applications -- from programs that help airplanes fly to allowing people to predict the weather, to those that enable innovative ways to study the human genome as well as applications that predict stock market behavior and provide risk management and portfolio optimization. The IMSL Libraries are regarded as the most sophisticated, flexible, scalable and highly accessible technology available for numerical analysis in the most important mainstream programming environments in use today. Parties interested in developing applications for the JIVA framework or licensing the framework for their own use are invited to contact Brain Murmurs.
